Neighbourhood Watch
Enfield Island Village has been designated a Neighbourhood Watch area, coordinated by the Enfield Island Trust. This means reduced insurance premiums for Islanders, so you should tell your home and vehicle insurers that you are in a Neighbourhood Watch area, and regular support from the police. In the future, we aim to secure discounts for security equipment for residents. The Neighbourhood Watch brings the Enfield Island Village Trust into partnership with the police, aimed at securing a safer community for residents.

Window Locks - crime prevention initiative
We are currently working with the police crime prevention office on a programme to advise flat management companies about more secure window locks. By working together across the Island, there is an opportunity to to ensure that the whole Island is better protected against burglary and to keep crime lower on the Island than in the surrounding area.

CCTV initiative
We are currently planning a CCTV initiative to help keep the island safe and to improve the chances of identifying and convicting criminals. There is strong support from local residents and this will be developed further once trials and discussions with the police and local authority have reached a conclusion.

SmartWater initiative
We have erected warning signs around the Island to try and prevent crime. Criminals know they will be convicted if they end up in court with Smartwater marked products or clothing. Therefore we have secured funding for everyone on the Island to have free SmartWater forensic property marking, so if you haven’t arranged this yet, please ring our local police team on 020 8721 2690 or the EIV Trust office on 01992 769143.

There is a 100% conviction rate for court cases where Smartwater is used as evidence.

Safer Neighbourhoods Team
Our local Met police team is called the Enfield Lock Safer Neighbourhoods Team. They can be contacted by email at EnfieldLock.SNT@met.police.uk or by phone on 020 8721 2690. Obviously call 999 for any emergency or if you see a crime in progress.

If you are interested in helping out with the Neighbourhood Watch or want to know more, contact the EIV Trust office on 01992 769143 or in person at 39 Island Centre Way. You will be referred to the Enfield Island Village Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator, which is a voluntary role filled by a local resident.
